Is the king a goat?

Churches in Zimbabwe hear Easter call for liberation Ekklesia

Christian Think Tank, Ekklesia, has posted an article written by Mike Crockett, about an Easter message pinned to bulletin boards in many churches this past weekend. Will it have the same effect as a similar message years ago in Malawi, that prompted Hastings Banda to hold a referendum on political change? Decide for yourself.

For me, I remain underwhelmed by the voice of the church in Zimbabwe - only the Catholic church seems brave enough to publicly face nominally Catholic Robert Mugabe, and call him the shameless monster that he undoubtedly has become. Zimbabwe even received a mention in the Pope's traditional Easter address, but I doubt that King Robert considers his mighty throne is worth getting off of to stoop at the feet of Almighty God. One day soon, he will figure it all out that he has in fact been very, very wrong, but Judgement Day will find him bereft of Central Intelligence Organisation thugs to enforce his dominance. 'Hey you with the glasses, funny moustache, and crown ... get in behind those other goats over there' may be words he hears soon after being lowered into his Heroes Acre 'resting' place.

If you are interested in intelligent Christian thinking about current events, have a deeper dig into Ekklesia.
