Skyped from way above the Atlantic, inflight

Until this week I was not really sure it was possible, but earlier today my friend Derek Jones made good on his promise to Skype me from high above the Atlantic Ocean, during a flight from Munich to New York. It was excellent, and the broadband offered by Lufthansa (using a service provided by Boeing) seems to work wonderfully. Derek said he had already listened to a live streaming audio of his football team playing a match in the UK. I connected us to Rob Ellis in Derby to test the conference call bit of Skype, and sure enough the three of us had a chat ... Derek even passed the headset over to his business partner and I asked him if the food was up to standard in Business Class tonight! The first hour is free on flights and a nominal fee gives you unlimited internet at fast speeds for the rest of the trip. Astounding. Here's another link and here is one more.
