New online community

Andrew Pitchford (COO of UCB Australia) and I are collaborating on creating a new online community for Christians interested in using new media for ministry. We began calling it Christians in New Media, but have changed to a short-hand: newmediax - where the X stands for Christian of course.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, please pass this on. Online communities rise or fall on the interest and interaction they can muster, and we hope that we can develop this into something significant for God's Kingdom.

Virgin Mobile not good

I have used Virgin Mobile since arriving in the UK, no problems in country. Massive costs when roaming in Africa are really quite sinful, as my last bill tells me. However, my beef today is that twice this very day Virgin has let me down, by not allowing me to get SMS updates from Twitter or I Want Sandy. Bad Virgin, bad. They make mucho money from us at the best of times, even more when we roam - for goodness sake what is stopping them from allowing Twitter and Sandy to use their email to SMS gateway?

Adobe AIR

I remember when I have purchased a new car, that all of a sudden we start noticing the same model on the road when before we never really saw them at all. This week I had a conversation with Daniel Antonssen, who lives in Sweden, about a project we are collaborating on together. He mentioned something called Adobe AIR, which I think I understand as a sort of AJAX like bit of software that enables Adobe's latest applications to work on everyone's computers.

Anyway, since the conversation, suddenly Adobe AIR is popping up in front of me all the time, and one latest application that I am trying out today, is SNITTER, an Adobe AIR app to enable you to manage your Twitter account. And if none of that means the slightest bit of anything to you ... Google around for some of those words. Especially Twitter, and feel free to add me to your list of twittering twits when you do!
