Bluebells in Patching
A short-ish video of our walk through the bluebell forest near the village of Patching, which is not very far from Worthing.

Bluebells Pale
Rose and I spent a wonderful afternoon in and around Patching Forest, on a Bluebell walk, with 4 others from the charity where Rose is working. John Lelliott is a great local walker and knows these parts like the back of his hand. We walked about seven and a half miles, and both feel quite stiff tonight!

Up, up, and away...
Devil's Dyke is farmland between Worthing and Brighton, near to Hove. We had heard there was a nice pub and restauant there, so we explored after church today. Hmm - a bit of a thing having lunch at Devil's Dyke after being in church - but I digress. We found the place, after a bit of an unscheduled tour of West Sussex farmlands, and Rose often seeing how close she could get the hubcaps to the cutting at the edge of the narrow country roads. When we got there, it was great fun to see a number of paragliders enjoying the brisk but sunny fresh air. What a lot of fun it looked like - something I think I would love to try if I had the opportunity.

Duckfeeder of Bosham
We visited the delightfully picturesque and historical village of Bosham, West Sussex, this past Wednesday. An outing with our old friends, Charlie and Lynne Cannings, and 9 and 10 year old boys, Josh and Ben. This village will be visited many more times, I am sure, as we just loved it. A supeb day out could be made of visiting Arundel and Bosham, for anyone wanting a West Sussex outing. The wonderful old fella in the picture must feed those ducks daily, because they seemed to be waiting for him. I met him down in the harbour where we talked about the radio controlled boat that was zipping around the seaweed, and teen minutes later he rode back on his bicycle to show me photos of other radio controlled boats he had seen. Josh and Ben had a wonderful time watching him feed the ducks. I am just sorry I did not ask his name, for I am sure he is a feature of Bosham! He knew a lot about the local swans, and even referred to different generations of swans he has observed over more than 25 years. The local Parish church is interesting. Local legend is that King Harold II is buried there, and that Bosham is the location where King Canute used his divine right as king to command the tide to stop advancing, and got his feet wet.

Littlehampton Day
We spent the whole day in Littlehampton, and nearby Rustington, yesterday. I was speaking for Feba Radio during the morning and evening services at Parkside Evangelical Church, and it was a really enjoyable day meeting new friends and being able to minister from a pulpit again. One side benefit was that we decided that we really like Rustington as an area to eventually look for a house to buy. We hope to get serious about this search in the next few months, and Rustington will be a chief contender!

Getting up on the Downs
Attribution: photo from Woman on the Verge blog
I visited Grace Community Church, within easy walking of the house yesterday. A great service - I was challenged to think by the message by Peter Cockrell that explored what it really means to have died to self in order to be alive in Christ. Rose is away this weekend, in Scotland, and friends (Tony & Marion Ford) invited me back for a light lunch followed by a walk on the Downs. We drove about 20 minutes to a very pretty spot to do just over 3 miles of walking. It was a lovely day yesterday - definitely a nip in the air, and I enjoyed the fresh air, exercise, and expansive views.
