Dressed to Kill

Smart Casual was the dress code for the wedding.

Small world

I only realised today, when talking to others, that the young lady (left in the picture above) used to come along to Sunday School most Sundays with her sister, to the Avondale Church of the Nazarene.

Shelly was Isaacs before she married Dave (oops, forgot the surname). They have recently moved from London to Swansea, in Wales. When Rose and I met Shelly yesterday, we knew we had met her before, but could not make the connections!

Too many places, too many discombobulated journeys of people from Zim days who have gone to so many different places. Her mum, Janice, was in Children's Theatre with me and my brothers in the late 60s and early 70s, and her granny (Di Issacs) was someone I worked with in the Building Society in Harare. Small, small world.

Getting hitched, Zimbo style

Here's a quick photo of the wedding I officiated at yesterday, in the Peak District, in Staffordshire. We are on the run today, getting my mom to friends at the start of a 2 week walk-about for her. Rose and I have a few days off work. The wedding was great fun, and I will post more on it later.

Health & Safety Rules?

Came across this photo clipped from Richard Byrom's flickr feed, which I had noticed in Facebook, because of a Twitter Richard had posted. Interesting how converged the social networking world is becoming, and how fast. Anyway, back to the picture of blushing bride and dapper groom - and wondering if this had appeared in a UK paper, how many health and safety rules might have been broken. Let alone the PC stuff, or the women's rights. If I close my eyes a bit and imagine the groom is old Comrade Bob and the bride is the long suffering people of Zimbabwe, the photo is an excellent summary of why nothing happens fast in Zim to bring about change.

The wedding happened

Being part of the wedding party did not make it easy to take pictures, but here is a first pic of Paul and Carol at their wedding yesterday. We have only had a few hours sleep after a wonderfully marvellous time together. I am waiting for the rest to be ready for church ... Rogan is preaching this morning at the local United Methodist Church here in Watertown, CT. I will post some more pictures when we have had time to see who has what on our various cameras. The wedding took place at the pretty Chippanee Golf Club, in Bristol, CT. The venue building can be seen in the link to the club.
