Ninja Granny
This was just too funny to not post! But I did get mom's permission to do so - she is up for a good laugh, even at her own expense, so good for her! Twice in a row she KO'd the poor fella in the ring with her.

Mom's move begins
Boxes piled up as the move for Mark's mom began, from our house to her new bottom-floor flat in Goring, about 3 miles away. She has been busy visiting charity shops! It must be fun for her to unwrap her boxes and parcels sent months ago from Harare.

What a life

Not long after getting home Thursday night last week, my mom offered me a foot massage, whole works. Who could refuse?

Barking Mad
Not not our mom, silly you! Our miniature Jack Russell is always looking for trouble. This time she spied a bird sitting on the next door house's chimney, and it brought back memories of chasing doves and other birds in Johanesburg. She is crazy, and turns up in the oddst places. But that's a distraction - We had some briefly sunny weather this morning and took time to have our traditional coffee and croissants on the back deck. Didn't last long, but we enjoyed it.

Granny Rocks BHS in Worthing

My poor old mom! She had a mishap in BHS store in Worthing today. She was travelling heavenwards on an escalator when her little shopping buggy on wheels decided to get caught up as the steps started to flatten out. She turned around and tried to tug it free, lost her balance, and ended up head first facing downwards on her tummy as the escalator continued its relentless march as she feared being sucked inside. Must have been a scary thing for her. Store staff came to her attention - emergency stop on the escalator, first aid at the scene whilst the paramedics were called - and a trip in an ambulance to Worthing Hospital to get some attention to some quite nasty cuts and scrapes on her arm and leg - no stitches fortunately. The emergency stop button was a blessing because if she had reached the top, it would probably have ripped her clothes off, and Worthing is just not ready for that yet. Rose met her at the hospital, where she got some great treatment and TLC from the staff, and we commiserated with some take-away curry for supper. She is a bit uncomfortable, but she is a tough old cookie.

75 Years Young
Yesterday was Mark's mom's 75th birthday, and we celebrated in style with a fabulous family luncheon. Julie & Ed, Ashleigh & Liam travelled down from Oxford, and Rose cooked up a gastronomacious delight. It was a fun day.
Happy Birthday, mother.
