On Safari

Another pleasant Kenya Airways flight from Heathrow to Nairobi, and I am now fully convinced that long-haul flights in the daytime are much more enjoyable than the usual overnighters. I have a day in Nairobi, with Norman Brierley, and we head for a town called Yei, in Southern Sudan, aboard a DC3. Should be an experience ... photos will follow!

One Hump or Two?

'Come Ride My Camel - Cheap Price Just Today'

I took this picture of a camel on a beach in north Mombasa in Kenya, last month. They come down the beach, led by their owner or guardian, in search of tourists who wish to get a ride or a photograph near one of these 'ships of the desert'.

I think the fellow in this picture was either giving me a sales pitch or yelling at me for taking a picture before agreeing a price. I was about 50 meters away and I could sure smell the old dromedaryhairy from where I stood, so I decided to pass on the ride.
