We spent the weekend in KZN, mostly because of grandson Rhys' first birthday. Snow fell upon parts of the Drakensberg, and we did see it from just outside Hilton, but from a distance away. The Maluti mountians in Lesotho were full of snow this weekend, and this pic from Eben Olivier off http://www.news24.com/News24/Gallery/Home/0,,galleries-1-2395,00.html gives an indication of what we saw from many more miles away. It was pretty chilly, and back in Joburg today, the temperatures are not that much better.

Ah, sometimes I hate The Netherlands for not having any mountain at all ....

I like the mountains and snow. There is something so crisp and refreshing about them.
I remember camping in the Draks and being totally astonished by the cold - this was meant to be Africa!! I have loved your photos they bring back treasured memories and make me all the more convinced that 20 years later I WILL take my family to SA and to the Wild Coast and the places I used to live - thank you :)
